Visibility KPIs

1. Citation Rate

Definition: How often AI systems cite your content when answering relevant queries.

Formula:

Citation Rate = (Queries citing your content / Total relevant queries) × 100

How to Measure:

  • Run 20-50 queries relevant to your expertise
  • Count how many times your content/brand is cited
  • Track weekly/monthly

Target: Aim for improvement over baseline, not absolute number


2. Share of AI Voice

Definition: Your brand's share of AI citations vs. competitors.

Formula:

Share of Voice = (Your citations / Total category citations) × 100

How to Measure:

  • Run same queries for your brand and competitors
  • Count citations for each
  • Calculate percentage share

Target: Match or exceed market share


3. Answer Inclusion Rate

Definition: How often your content is included in AI-generated answers (not just cited).

Formula:

Inclusion Rate = (Answers featuring your content / Total relevant answers) × 100

How to Measure:

  • Differs from citation—content used, not just linked

How to Measure:

Definition: How correctly AI systems represent your brand/content.

Formula:

How to Measure:

6. AI Sentiment Score

Definition: The sentiment of AI-generated content about your brand.

Categories: Positive / Neutral / Negative

How to Measure:

7. Response Completeness

How to Measure:

Definition: Consistency of AI representation across platforms.

How to Measure:

  • Query ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude with same questions
  • Compare answers about your brand
  • Note inconsistencies

How to Measure:
